At Dancing Pen & Press, we bend over backward for our clients. We are not happy until you are.  We pride ourselves on being the fun, enthusiastic wedding vendors. We aim to please and have the feedback to prove it. No detail is too small for us, and we truly L-O-V-E what we do! Our letterpress shop is run by me, Elecia.  Read below for my full bio.  Our wedding invitation studio is located a little northwest of Houston, Texas in a town called Cypress.  While we, of course, love our Houston based clients, we ship out hundreds of packages of letterpress wedding invitations and marriage certificates all over the world every single year!!

I grew up in New England. I moved to Texas a few years ago and I LOVE it! I still have my New England roots, but fully embrace my Texas future :)

Growing up I always knew I wanted to be an artist. Well, I would say I wanted to be an artist, a veterinarian, and a dancer. I don't know WHAT I was thinking with the dancer thing - I have no rhythm... I still love animals and my daughter is proud to call her Mommy an "artist".

When I was about seven years old. My art teacher pulled out one of those calligraphy markers and scrolled our names on scraps of paper. I asked , "How do you DO that???" She must have been a very modest woman because her answer was that it was the pen. Can you imagine my disappointment when I urged my Nana to purchase one, and I tried it out?? My sloppy seven year old penmanship, even with my attempts of loops and swirls, just didn't cut it....

Many many many trips to the art supply store and kits upon kits with instructions I had it down early into my double digit years. I addressed envelopes for loved ones parties and scrolled the names of our guests on place cards for holidays.

Calligraphy got pushed to the wayside for many years once it was time to graduate high school. I attended the University of Rhode Island where I majored in Textiles Merchandising & Design, with a minor in Fine Arts. My favorite classes were Color Theory, Color Science and Print Making. All of which I use the skills I learned every single day.

I started "Dancing Pen Calligraphy" back in 2008 after my children were born.  I started with a few pens, a couple of bottles of ink, a Craigslist ad, and a dream. While, I loved making everybodies envelopes pretty, what I really yearned to do was letterpress.  I had seen a few letterpress invites while I was addressing the thousands upon thousands of envelopes and just fell in love with it!  I took a 3 days class at a community print shop while I still lived in Rhode Island.  I bought a printing press, and "Dancing Pen & Press" was born!

I have since moved to Texas (a little NW of Houston) and operate out of a home based studio.  I hope to one day have a brick and mortar store, but for now this is perfect as I can be at home for my children. :)
